Professional Approach To Drilling Projects
Commonly called Horizontal Directional Drilling, HDD, or Tunnelling is a trenchless method of installing underground pipes and conduits along a prescribed bore path originating at the surface, with minimal impact on the surrounding area.
Directional boring is used when trenching or excavating is not practical. Directional boring minimizes environmental disruption. It is suitable for a variety of soil conditions and jobs including road, landscape and river crossings.
The process is used for installing infrastructure such as telecommunications & power cable conduits, water lines, sewer
lines, gas lines, oil lines, product pipelines and environmental remediation casings. It is used for crossing waterways, roadways, shore approaches, congested areas, environmentally sensitive areas, and areas where other methods are costlier.
Directional boring is used instead of other techniques to provide less traffic disruption, lower cost, deeper and/or longer installation, no access pit, shorter completion times, directional capabilities, and environmental safety.
Introduction:
The schedule of activities can normally have divided into the following parts:
- PREPARATION OF SITE
- HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING OPERATION
1. PREPARATION OF SITE:
Entrance/Exit side:
A. Entry Pit:
A rectangular area has to be prepared that is approximately 3.5
meters long and 3 meters wide.
B. Exit Pit:
A rectangular area has to be prepared that is approximately 3 meters wide and 4 meters more than the existing MS sleeve pipe.
Note: The above mentioned measurements may change according to the Location.
The clean water requirements should be met by either a reliable
pumped supply or by water trucks. If it is determined that the water
supply is not sufficient to meet the needs of a crossing, water storage tanks will be used to store enough water to meet the requirement. Pits will be excavated at the pipeline entry and exit points. The pits should contain the borehole slurry. They must be o
